This site collects very little information about its visitors, and this page explains exactly what and why.

What is collected today

MoneyScience is served through Cloudflare, which acts as a content delivery network and provides basic security protection. As part of that, Cloudflare processes standard technical information about requests to this site, such as IP address and browser type, in order to route traffic and protect against abuse.

This site does not have any account creation, login, or comment system that would collect personal information directly.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, to understand how many people visit, which articles they read, and how they found the site. That information is used only to decide what to write and improve, not to identify individual visitors.

Google Analytics only runs if you agree to it. On your first visit, a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. Until you click Accept, the Google Analytics script is not loaded, no analytics cookies are set, and nothing is sent to Google Analytics. If you click Reject, that stays true. Your choice is saved in your browser's local storage, not in a cookie, and is kept for about six months, after which the banner asks again. You can change your mind at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. Withdrawing consent stops analytics and removes the Google Analytics cookies this site set in your browser.

Once you accept, Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect information such as the pages you view, how long you stay, the site that referred you, your device and browser type, and your approximate location, derived from your IP address. Google states that for visitors in the European Union, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, Google Analytics does not log or store individual IP addresses. How Google handles the data it receives is described in how Google uses information from sites that use its services and in Google's privacy policy.

You can block these cookies in your browser settings, or prevent Google Analytics from collecting data on any website with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

If that changes

If this site adds advertising, an email newsletter, or any other feature that collects personal data in the future, this page will be updated to describe what is collected, why, and what choices are available before that feature goes live, not after.

Articles on this site link to external sources, including regulators, academic papers, and other websites. Once you follow a link away from this site, that destination's own privacy practices apply, not this one.
